Wakeman Boys & Girls Club Breaks Ground for New Clubhouse in Bridgeport

Antinozzi Associates is Proud to be a Part of this Exciting Project!

MARCH 2022 – Wakeman Boys & Girls Club breaks ground for a new clubhouse in Bridgeport. Antinozzi Associates Architecture and Interiors was proud to join the WBG team at the ground-breaking ceremony for the new facility located at 595 Madison Avenue on March 28, 2022.

Manny Machado, Project Manager, and Michael Ayles, Principal-in-Charge were both on hand to represent the Firm and pick up a shovel on behalf of the design team for this important day. Other Antinozzi team members who worked on the project include Brittney Dishian, Senior Interior Designer; Kelly Prendergast, Interior Designer; Rosa Guzman, Architectural Designer; and Paul Antinozzi, who retired as President of the Firm in 2021.

The Wakeman Boys & Girls Club Madison Avenue Clubhouse will be a two story, 44,230 SF space. In close proximity to nine area schools, the clubhouse will have the capacity to serve 2,000 young people age 3 to 18.  This new safe space will provide academic support, social and emotional learning, and enrichment programs to the North End and Hollow neighborhoods of Bridgeport.

Consultants working with Antinozzi Associates to deliver the design for the Clubhouse include Southport Engineering Associates (M/E/P/FP, Ridgefield), Cabezas-DeAngelis (Site-Civil Design, Bridgeport), Thomas Torrenti (Structural Design, Orange), Aris Land Studio (Landscape Design, Bridgeport), and GZA (Geotechnical Services, Trumbull).

Construction on the Clubhouse begins with the ground-breaking. The opening date is anticipated summer of 2023.

Wakeman Boys & Girls Club was founded in 1913 and serves more than 3,000 members annually through clubhouse and school sites in Fairfield and Bridgeport, CT. This critical  community support organization has provided young people ages 5 to 18 with a safe haven, academic enrichment, health and wellness programs, and character and leadership activities after-school, on weekends, and throughout the summer for more than 100 years. Added services for clubhouse participants will be provided via a partnership with Southwest Community Health Center and Bridgeport Caribe Youth Leaders.
