September 9, 2014 – Bridgeport, CT – To University of Bridgeport alumna Marian Heard, the Park Avenue building she was standing in Tuesday was a far cry from the building she remembered.

The bland facade was gone, replaced by windows and a canopy that protrudes several feet beyond the main entrance. The 1960s-era furniture was also out and in its place stood gray tabletop and theater-style lecture hall furniture and large, comfortable lobby chairs.

“This is an architectural wonder,” Heard said as she stood in the Ernest C. Trefz School of Business’ Jacobson Wing Lobby, which she contributed toward. “Bright, spacious, welcoming. I believe it’s going to inspire people to forge ahead in their respective careers and change lives.”

Also different was the technology.

The lobby areas are now equipped with numerous cellphone and laptop charging stations. And each lecture hall has a high-resolution projector with video conferencing that can allow individuals in the separate lecture halls to see the same thing at the same time.
